Los Angeles, California, United States, 21st Feb 2023 – A boss lady. An influencer. A mother. Mechelle McCain is the quintessential millennial – that is, out to conquer the world and make a name for herself on her own terms. Bringing passion to her career as a working actress and fostering social consciousness as a civic-minded philanthropist and global citizen, Mechelle is utilizing all of her God-given talent and skills to make this world a better place for the next generation.
As a social media influencer, she’s amassed a following of almost 150K followers on Instagram, utilizing social relationships and content creation to engage and offer her views and perspective on topics and trends, impacting pop culture.
With encouragement and support from her parents, Mechelle began writing, modeling and performing in front of audiences as a kid. The magnetic presence of the Houston native captured the attention of those around her, and soon she was on stage, starring in school plays and competing in beauty pageants. Upon graduation from high school, she attended the University of Houston, and continued her interest in performance art. After two years, she dropped out of college, and move to Los Angeles to pursue acting full time.
As a rising ingénue, she began acting alongside A-listers, including Oscar winner Cuba Gooding Jr. and multiple-Grammy winner Beyoncé in the film, “The Fighting Temptations, as well as Kevin Hart in “35 & Ticking.” Other credits include guest appearances on “The Bold and the Beautiful,” “The Game,” “Love That Girl” and “Survivors Remorse. She started writing, producing and starring in her own short films, including “The Hoodling,” “Basketball Wives The Movie,” “Misadventures of a Hollywoood Housewife” “#Instacouple” and “FOOTPRINTS.”
Becoming Ms. McCain
In 2005, Mechelle married comic Mike Epps and took a break from her acting career. Mike’s star began to rise following his breakout roles in “Friday After Next” and “All About the Benjamins.” Pursuing acting gigs here and there, Mechelle took the role of a supportive spouse. She put her ambitions on hold, and supported her ex’s endeavors as well as start a family. Although she never told a joke, she played her best part yet – that is, embodying the expression, “behind every successful man is a good woman.” The couple called it quits in 2017.
Now back on her own, Mechelle reverted back to her maiden name of McCain, and raising two daughters. Today, she is continuing to not only hone her skills as a working actress, but she’s also taking the reigns behind the camera as a writer and producer. Currently, she is shopping her project Méchelle McCain Presents. And her short “FOOTPRINTS” is on the Film Festival circuit.
A Philanthropist and Global Citizen
